Yoga and Art – half day experience
‘Drawing in the Present.’
for Square Peg Cap
5th May 2021
The aim for this session is to reconnect participants to their physical brain, the limbic system known as the center of the emotion and learning brain. This part of the brain also known as the right brain when combined with guided visualisation and hand to eye coordination can open doors to imaginative thinking, deeper connection and the rejuvenating experience of being in the now.
The Program
9-9:20am – Yoga
Camilla Knight of Creative Connection will start by guiding participants through a short grounding meditation followed by gentle standing movement to help participants release tension in their body and ‘get out of their head and into their body’.
9:20-11:20 – Art
This two hour drawing workshop is led by Susan Olij @olijstudio_travels, artist educator from LaSalle College of the Arts, using techniques from the two-sided brain education combined with visual thinking. Participants will learn the basic proportion of the face, and learn to apply their observations to interpret what they see into the discipline of drawing a portrait. At the end of the workshop, they will learn how to see in a new way, and to connect deeper with themselves and their colleagues.
11:20 – 12 – Yoga
Camilla, will guide participants through a relaxing and slow yin yoga session (all seated postures) ending in a 20 mins yoga nidra (yoga sleep) session which is a deeply relaxing guided meditation.
